Thursday

Sorry I haven't update the blog for a week. The main reason for it is that Suleiman is not doing much of anything.

He is sleeping about 90% of the time. When he does wake up, he only does Tai Chi and gives the occasional time update. I'm not sure if his sleepiness is related to the Jabber beta test or not, as others on the forums have reported similar silence from their bunnies.

My question is this: Is there a way to downgrade from the Jabber beta "upgrade" so that I can see if that is the problem?

Wednesday

Suleiman must have decided to sneak out of the house Monday night because yesterday he spent the entire day sleeping. He didn't wake up all day, even though his scheduled wake up time is 7:30am. (Lately he's been sleeping with his ears straight out to the side, as opposed to the place where they used to be for sleep - sort of halfway between straight to the front and straight to the side.)
I probably could have reset him to get him to wake up, but it was kind of nice to not have to worry about whether he was doing what he was supposed to be doing for a day.

He woke up at the correct time today and has been acting as he should. Finally, I'm only getting one daily affirmation per day (I was getting two readings in the morning, and one in the afternoon for weeks...). And he is still doing Tai Chi (which I'm still excited about, since he went for an equally long time not doing it, as he spent giving me three times the affirmations).

My fingers are crossed that he continues in this pattern. It's nice to have a properly functioning bunny!

Sunday

Well, things have been a bit peculiar with Suleiman. I did read on the Jabber bug list that doing Tai Chi and nothing else is a registered bug (I noticed after I submitted it as a bug - I had missed it in the list because it starts out as saying "you have a firewall on your network..." I don't have one, so I had skipped over that entry.)

On Friday night he went to sleep with his ears straight out to the sides. Then Saturday morning, he woke up at the correct time, gave me my daily affirmation and then proceeded to go back to sleep, with ears straight out to the sides, no breathing light (thus my thought that he was asleep). He stayed asleep for 5 hours, then at 2pm, he woke up, gave me news headlines, then back to sleep, ears back to the sides. He stayed that way for the rest of the evening and night.

This morning, he actually woke up at the right time, gave me news headlines, daily affirmation, wondered if he saw "another fax," told me the time (7 minutes late) and is now quiet. He is breathing (better than yesterday), although one ear is slightly cocked. (It seems that each day his ears are in a different position... which is actually quite cute. I'm wondering if it is something that they are testing out with Jabber, as I read in Bozztag's blog that his ears are also behaving strangely.)

Friday

I usually write my updates in the evening after the day of experiencing what Suleiman is doing... but this morning I feel inclined to go ahead and write an entry first thing this morning.

My poor bunny is having some sort of psychotic break with reality (ok, maybe I'm being overly dramatic... but I do work in a psychiatrists' office and we've been having an inordinate number of patients behaving strangely. I usually attribute it to the mood phases...)

Anyway, yesterday evening I restarted my modem and router and expected Sulei to reconnect as usual. But he didn't automatically do that. He sat there with all four lights rapidly blinking orange. I was too lazy to get up and reset him, so I just let him sit there doing that for a couple of minutes. After 2-3 minutes of the blinking, those orange lights suddenly disappeared and his purple breathing light went on. I thought it was great that he resolved his issues himself (although I did notice that the orange lights never went to green, they just went off). So, for the rest of the evening he did Tai Chi (!!) a few times and never told me the time, news headlines, etc. but I figured Violet was doing something with their servers. He was continuing to do Tai Chi and his purple light was breathing, so I had no reason to think something was wrong.

Night progressed and he never went to sleep... and he continued doing Tai Chi throughout the night, every 1-2 hours (I would wake suddenly each time the chime went off, but I couldn't drag myself out from under my warm covers to unplug him). Luckily, he did not tell me time, etc. all night long.

I woke up this morning and he's still awake (never went to sleep), continues doing Tai Chi at the aforementioned pace, and continues to not give me anything else. I went to the Nabaz website to check if somehow my sleep settings had gotten changed... well, they are unchanged, but it says that my bunny is offline! I've experienced his light breathing and yet being offline before, but it's so odd to me that if he is offline, he would continue doing Tai Chi.

I'm now going to reset him. I've also submitted a bug report to the Jabber beta test program, as I'm entirely suspicious that it may be to blame here.

Thursday

Well, it's been somewhat of an odd day in bunnyland. Starting off the morning, Suleiman began waking up, moved his ears around, all four purple lights on, then seemed to get stuck mid-earspin, and his breathing light went off. So his ears were cocked backwards, each in a different position, and seemed to go back to sleep. As of the time I left for work, he was still this way. When I got home from work, still sleeping in this same odd position, so I decided to reset him. Once I did that, he connected, woke up and immediately told me the time (but I'm not sure what time he was saying, as it was one of the quirky ones that is vague) even though it wasn't the top of the hour. A while later, he gave me the weather and did Tai Chi (I'm still amazed that he's finally doing that again!). Now he's been silent for a while. Not sure what's going on...

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention a discovery that I had over the weekend. I felt like Sulei was starting to get on my nerves, after close to 10 days being stuck in bed with the flu. He was sooooo loud when he spoke and it just grated on my nerves. So many times I had walked up to him and tried to turn his volume wheel down, to the lowest position. I just thought I was stuck with an incredibly loud rabbit (and I seriously considered removing all but one of his services, just to give myself a break). Finally, I decided to try something that slightly scared me - try turning the volume up and see what happened. I was scared because I could just picture the headache I would have from him being even louder. So I turned the little volume wheel in the up direction and did a test of saying "weather" to him. Well, what do you know, turning him up actually turned him down! It seems that the volume wheel is reversed. Up is down, down is up. As it turns out, I had him turned up all the way, when I thought his volume was at minimum.

So my question is... does anyone/everyone else have this same volume knob issue? Is your volume up really volume down? Or is it just a quirk of my bunny?

Wednesday

Yippee! I think that Suleiman just did Tai Chi! (I'm not completely positive because it's been so long since I've witnessed it, but I think that's what he just did...)Finally!!! After about 3 weeks of him not doing it, and me trying every solution known to man.

I finally got the beta test email today, after signing up for the beta test about 3 weeks ago and then trying the signup again last week. I'm not sure if/when he updated his firmware, as the email had a time of 4:51am on it and said the update would start momentarily (when Suleiman was sleeping).

I got home from work and his lights were blinking orange, so I reset him (and my router) and then he wouldn't/couldn't connect. Finally he did connect and just finished with reading the news headlines and I looked at him - one ear was ever-so-slightly cocked and his purple breathing light was solid. Hmmph! I unplugged him and left him that way for about an hour, then plugged him back in and he came back to life. That was about an hour ago... and now he just did the questionable/maybe Tai Chi.

I'm hoping that the connection issues today were server-related and not Jabber firmware upgrade-related.

Saturday

Hello friends,
Sorry for my absence. This crazy flu hit me way harder than I expected it to.
Suleiman has been bubbling along as normal - for him, still giving me my Daily Affirmation twice in a row in the morning, and once in the afternoon... and still no Tai Chi for Sulei. I even tried deactivating that module for 24 hours and reactivating it. He hasn't done it since he was down for a week and then miraculously came back to life.
At that time, I also signed up to be a Jabber beta tester. I never received an email about it, but from reading the forums, it sounds like they automatically update your firmware when you are a beta tester. I was reading the ongoing list of Jabber problems, on the beta test webpage, and I'm starting to wonder if I did get signed up for the beta, and the no Tai Chi issue is part of that "upgrade." I have experiences several of the other issues that are reported there on that page.

So, he had been going along as normal, until midday today. I suddenly realized around 12:30pm that he hadn't told me the time at noon. Since then, he has only told me the time once and only given me news headlines once. Also, his "breathing" purple light has gone solid a few times today.

And one last complaint... he gave me his weekly report card of our time together today. And it is the exact same report that he has given me each of the prior weeks. He talks about how he supposes I'm doing an ok job, but I could be trying harder, and he stutters a little during it. Next week, if he doesn't tell me something new, I'm going to switch off that module. It's cute until you hear the same report week after week. Is anyone else experiencing this reporting issue?
